8 Days Grand Kenyan Odyssey: Amboseli, Rift Lakes & Maasai Mara

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. After meeting your professional safari guide, you'll depart for Amboseli through the scenic Athi Plains, passing traditional Maasai homesteads and expansive savannah landscapes. Arrive at Kibo Safari Camp in time for lunch and relaxation before your first afternoon game drive.

Wake before sunrise for one of Kenya's most rewarding wildlife experiences. The early morning offers the clearest views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds gather around its peak. Wildlife is highly active, making this the ideal time to photograph elephants against the snow-capped mountain. You'll explore different ecosystems including acacia woodlands, open grasslands, and seasonal marshes.

After breakfast, depart Amboseli and journey north through Kenya's dramatic Great Rift Valley. Along the way you'll stop at one of the Rift Valley viewpoints where the escarpment stretches for hundreds of kilometers across East Africa. Arrive at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort in the afternoon and check into your lakeside accommodation.

After breakfast, enjoy a leisurely drive to Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya's premier rhino sanctuaries. Upon arrival, begin a game drive before checking into Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge for lunch. Lake Nakuru is famous for its remarkable conservation success and offers excellent opportunities to see both white and black rhinos, endangered Rothschild giraffes, and tree-climbing lions.

Following breakfast, depart for the world-renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive passes through rolling highlands before descending into the vast grasslands that form part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem. Arrive at Zebra Plains Mara Camp for lunch before embarking on your first afternoon game drive across the legendary savannah.

Today is dedicated to exploring one of Africa's greatest wildlife destinations. Leave camp early with packed picnic lunches for an immersive full-day safari across different regions of the reserve. Visit the Mara River, home to hippos and enormous Nile crocodiles, while your guide tracks wildlife using years of field experience. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration.

A slower morning allows for another rewarding game drive before returning to camp for breakfast. Later, you'll have the opportunity to visit an authentic Maasai Village and learn about one of Africa's most celebrated pastoral cultures, including traditional dances, village homestead tours, livestock traditions, and beadwork craftsmanship.

Enjoy breakfast before checking out and beginning your journey back to Nairobi. Arrive in the afternoon, where you'll be transferred to your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight.
